God of All Comfort Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in
all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in
any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings,
so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.
(2 Corinthians 1:3-5 ESV)
This is a story about the Triune God’s sovereignty in the life of a sojourner (a person who stays for a time in a place; lives temporarily). It’s the story of how Almighty God has been refining me. I just happen to be the sojourner in this story. It could just as well be you or someone you know. As you read, may the Lord give you insight into how He guides His children, those who have surrendered to Him.
WARNING: it may not be what you expect.
The Triune God is the main character in this story. This is a Biographic Narrative in which I share, from my perspective, how He has walked me through suffering – from ants in the bed to intense terror that caused me almost daily to beg Him to take me home.
I wish I knew in my early twenties what I know today in my early seventies about the importance of suffering in my walk with the Triune God.
Some friends suggested I write a book; for now, I’m tackling this Blog.
Many have suffered far worse than I.
It is my prayer that the Triune God will use the musings that flow from my heart to help others draw closer to Himself. I would be honored and humbled if you walked with me down this path. You can register now or continue to explore the site.
Each memory has a Biblical truth tied to it. The narrative does not begin at the beginning; I will be hopping all around through the years. On this walk, God has taught me to cling to the truth that He is all knowing, all powerful, all loving and totally just. He is Sovereign, not one thing has happened to me that He didn’t grant to happen. I trust Him to show me when to share each story.
I will be as honest as I can. Stories may be modified because they involve others or a combining of stories so as to not bore you with too much. There are memories I live with every day; others I remember only because they are written in a women’s Bible study curriculum, notes I wrote for teaching Bible studies, or in my Journals.
THE WAY TO READ THIS BLOG
- Read it like a book. Each post will build on the previous one so I encourage you to begin with the first post. No! This Can’t be Happening to Me! This is Crazy!
- I am not a theologian so if anything does not fit with scripture, please let me know.
- Everyone is invited to read this journey; however, I am writing specifically to those who walk with the Triune God.
- At the end of each post there will be some type of challenge – Coffee Chat Assignment. My hope and prayer is that it will take you to a deeper place in your walk with Almighty God.
- At the bottom of each Coffee Chat Assignment there is a link to the next page of this story.
- If you want to skip around to different “pages” of the story go to “FEATURED POSTS.” The list is found on phones by scrolling down. The list is found on computers in the right sidebar.
Assignment One
FIRST ASSIGNMENT – Forward to Refiner’s Fire
If you have chosen to take this walk with me, your first assignment is to pray and ask Father, Son and Holy Spirit to guide you. As you listen to the song below let the Lord speak to you of the refining He is doing in your life.
The song Refiner’s Fire drew me to focus on Jesus and KNOW He had a plan and a purpose for every bit of pain He walked me through. The Triune God is still refining me, in the midst of pain showing me things about myself that are painful, taking me deeper in my walk with Him.
I find myself falling more and more in love with Almighty God. May Refiner’s Fire be a song of challenge for you to focus on Jesus and KNOW He has a perfect plan for you – even if it doesn’t feel like it today.
