One of my reasons for writing a Blog, rather than a book, was to give you access to sermons that have helped me walk through the Refining Fire. The truth of God’s Word found in these sermons has kept me continually focused on the Triune God.
Joy in Risk and Suffering John Piper’s sermon has helped me to understand the importance of suffering in my walk with the Triune God.
He is Like a Refiner’s Fire John Piper gives a great explanation of what the refiner’s fire is. You can listen to the sermon or read the transcript.
Thanksgiving Dr. Jeff Hamm, Christ Church Presbyterian Atlanta
For those who suffer with continual pain – physical, mental, emotional or relational – it is difficult to think about thanking God for that pain. For some of us it has been for most of our lives, for others it has been all of your life. Dr. Hamm said, “to withhold thanksgiving is to withhold glory.” The thought came to me, “what would be the greatest surrender to the Triune God but to thank Him for my most difficult pains?” In that moment I had a new, deeper insight into the sovereignty and love of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The Greatest Prayer in the World John Piper
“The success of Jesus’s mission to earth depended on Jesus’s prayer and the answer given.” “Jesus did not go on praying for the cup to pass. He went on praying for success in drinking it.” “Every hope of the gospel succeeds because of Jesus’s reverent earnestness in prayer.”
